2020 Georges Gibourg, Bourgogne Les Lutenieres 750ml
The 2020 Bourgogne rouge from the Mugnerets is a lovely example of the vintage, despite this being the highest octane wine in the range this year, tipping the scales at 14.7 percent alcohol. I suppose this is not surprising, as the Bourgogne vines would be the last harvested and in the heat of late August, sugars would have continued to mount while bunches were brought in from the premier and grand cru parcels first. However, the wine shows lovely freshness in its deep and sappy bouquet of black raspberries, cassis, dark chocolate, woodsmoke and a fine base of soil. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, vibrant and chewy, with excellent mid-palate depth, good acids and focus and a long, quite lovely finish. Good juice.
