This is sufficiently reduced that I would strongly suggest decanting it if you're going to open a bottle young in the name of 'science'. In contrast to the nose there is excellent freshness and verve to the well-delineated and intensely mineral-driven middle weight plus flavors that are finer yet more powerful than those of the Charmes, all wrapped in a beautifully textured finale due in large part to the very fine-grained tannins. This is a very classy wine that competes with the Musigny for the best in the range. In a word, gorgeous.
